VOID PLATFORM SCAFFOLD HIRE
Temporary protection and working access across internal openings
Void Platform is designed for internal voids and penetrations where an open drop interrupts the work area. The platform is planned around the opening, surrounding structure and build sequence so temporary protection and access can support the work happening around it.

INTERNAL OPENING
WHERE VOID PLATFORM FITS
Internal access that works around the opening.
Void Platform solves a different problem from external scaffold. The opening, surrounding structure and build sequence determine how temporary protection and working access can be provided.
01
Internal openings
Designed around stairwells, floor voids and penetrations that interrupt the work area.
02
Temporary working platform
Provides planned access around the opening when the installed system is intended and handed over for that use.
03
Build sequencing
Installation and removal are coordinated around framing, flooring, trades and when the opening needs to be available again.

VOID PLATFORM SCAFFOLDING FAQ'S
Void platform scaffolding FAQs about internal openings, stairwells, working access and Queensland requirements.
What is a void platform?
A void platform is a temporary platform installed across or within an internal opening to help manage fall risk and provide practical access while construction continues. Common situations include stairwell voids, floor openings and other internal penetrations. The exact system and support arrangement depend on the opening and surrounding structure.
What is a void platform used for?
Kwikstage is commonly used where trades need reliable access along external elevations or across a larger work front. That can include residential construction, renovations, commercial projects, roofing, cladding, rendering, painting and other work at height. The right layout still depends on the building, ground conditions, access points and work sequence.
Is Kwikstage suitable for residential and commercial projects?
Void platforms are used where an internal opening needs temporary fall protection and, when designed for it, a working surface for trades. They can help keep work moving around stairwells or floor penetrations without leaving an open drop in the middle of the work area.
Is a void platform the same as external scaffolding?
No. A void platform solves an internal opening and fall-protection problem, while external scaffold such as Kwikstage or T-Lite is generally planned around building elevations and outside work areas. Hasscaff can determine whether the project needs one system or a combination of access solutions.
When should a void platform be installed?
Timing depends on the build sequence and when workers may be exposed to the opening. The platform should be planned early enough that the fall risk is controlled before relevant upper-level or surrounding work proceeds. The site programme, framing, flooring and other trades all affect the practical installation point.
Can trades work from a void platform?
A void platform can provide a practical working surface when the installed system has been designed, installed and handed over for that intended use. Workers should follow the site handover information, load limits and access requirements rather than assuming every platform can be used in the same way.
Can a void platform be moved or altered after installation?
It should not be altered, lifted or removed by unauthorised workers. Changes can affect the safety of the platform and surrounding fall protection. If the opening, flooring or work sequence changes, contact the scaffold or platform provider so the system can be reviewed before work continues. WorkSafe Queensland also warns against unauthorised scaffold alterations.
Do internal voids need fall protection in Queensland?
Queensland work health and safety rules require fall risks to be managed; there is not one identical control for every opening or project. A void platform can be one practical control where it suits the structure and work sequence. For current regulatory guidance, see WorkSafe Queensland’s scaffolding information and the relevant falls requirements.
What information helps with a void platform quote?
Send photos or plans clearly showing the opening, approximate dimensions, surrounding framing or structure, floor level, the work being completed and the project timing. If there are several voids, mark each one on the plan so Hasscaff can understand the scope and sequencing from the start.
