What is Hang-On scaffold?
Hang-On scaffold is a structure-supported temporary working platform used where conventional scaffold cannot practically be built from the ground. Rather than relying on a full scaffold tower below the work area, the platform is supported from the building structure using a site-appropriate arrangement.
When is Hang-On scaffolding used?
Hang-On becomes relevant when ground-level space is restricted, the work area is at an upper level, or conventional scaffold below would be impractical for the site. It can be useful for selected roofline, fascia, guttering and other elevated access tasks, subject to the building structure and project requirements.
Is Hang-On scaffold the same as suspended scaffold?
Not necessarily. “Hang-On” describes Hasscaff’s structure-supported platform solution, while Queensland regulations use specific scaffold classes such as hung and suspended scaffolds. The correct classification, design and licence requirements depend on how the platform is actually supported. Hasscaff reviews the configuration rather than treating the terms as interchangeable.
Does every building suit Hang-On scaffold?
No. The building must be suitable for the proposed support and attachment method, and the required work area and loads must be understood. Some sites will be better served by Kwikstage, T-Lite or another access method. Photos and structural information are important before suitability can be confirmed.
Can Hang-On scaffold keep the ground area clearer?
It can reduce the need for full ground-up scaffold beneath the platform, which may help keep parts of the area below less obstructed. That does not mean the space below is automatically open for unrestricted use; exclusion zones, access controls and other site safety requirements still depend on the project.
How much does Hang-On scaffold hire cost?
Cost depends on the length and location of the platform, building structure, access for installation, engineering or design requirements where applicable, installation and dismantle work, and hire duration. Hasscaff needs the actual site information before providing a reliable quote.
What should I send so Hasscaff can assess Hang-On scaffold?
Send the site address, wide photos of the building and the area below, close photos of the relevant structure, plans or framing drawings if available, the exact work area, the trades using the platform and your target dates. The more clearly the support conditions are shown, the more useful the initial assessment can be.
Who can install or alter Hang-On scaffold in Queensland?
The required licence depends on the scaffold configuration and fall risk. WorkSafe Queensland requires relevant high risk work licensing for scaffolding work where a person or object could fall more than four metres, with higher licence classes covering more complex scaffold types.
